Missouri Child Support
If you’re from the state of Missouri then you understand that the Missouri child support system can be tight lipped about the way they do things and their system. I was able to dig up some information but not much and I’ll outline the highlights of what I found to shed some light on this mysterious situation.
Firstly the Missouri child support system does have provisions and information online but that information is scattered and when you finally start to put things together it’s difficult to read and interpret. It seems as if it was written more for a lawyers stand point rather than an ordinary person looking to gain some insight on their new situation. Now with that being said, I was able to find some things and the system doesn’t vary much from the norm but the few things that are different will be discussed here. The Missouri child support system can base a support order on probable earnings if for some reason your information isn’t available to make a correct determination.
That means they look at your educational background and your employment history and make a decision on these things. That’s weird to me that the Missouri child support system will be able to find out this information about you in the event of you not providing proper income verification but who am I to judge. The Missouri child support system will make provisions and adjustments to your support order if the non custodial parent has the child or children over night but the child or children must be present with the non custodial at least 36 nights before things start to change. And with that much time they’ll only change a little.
However if the child or children spend more than 146 nights with the non custodial parent then the whole support order could change. Another interesting thing about the Missouri child support system is that they allow other states to come in and view your support order and this could cause your order to change. This is an effort to keep people from jumping from state to state because of child support obligations. The Missouri child support system has managed to maintain a non controversial presence when it comes to child support so that is an indication of them not having many problems collecting or with punishments and enforcments.
There wasn’t much information on the Missouri child support system punishments and enforcement side of things but you should know that they have a system in place. The Missouri child support also will report your child support debt to a credit collection agency and it will negatively effect your credit score and follow you everywhere you go in life.
All in all, the little information I was able to find paints a typical picture of the Missouri child support system in comparison to most states. If you want to get started on your child support case right now here’s the link to their official site Missouri child support.
